San Diego Hotel Workers and LGBT Community Boycott Manchester Hyatt!
Hotel Workers and LGBT community unite to fight discrimination against gays and lesbians and workers.

On July 10th, UNITE HERE and LGBT leaders announced a full-scale boycott of the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.

The coalition is calling for Hyatt to take action to correct a record of discrimination against workers at the hotel. Manchesters Hyatt forces housekeepers to clean more rooms than housekeepers at other some Hyatt hotels, and workers at the Manchester Hyatt have no job security if the hotel is sold.

The owner of the hotel Douglas Manchester, has also funded discrimination against the LGBT community. Manchester donated $125,000 to a political committee supporting Proposition 8, a November ballot initiative in California that seeks to make it illegal for loving gay and lesbian couples to marry. Hyatt should fire Manchester for Discrimination!

Where, once upon-a-time, from June 17th, 2008 to November’s bittersweet election day, marriage licenses were issued to same-sex couples.

January 10, 2009 — March Against DOMA — gather at County Administration Building at 10am for a pre-rally, then step-off for marching at 11am. We’ll be marching a 2 mile route past the Manchester Grand Hyatt, which the local hotel union and the LGBT community are currently boycotting. Then we’ll continue up 1st Avenue and back down Ash Street to County Adminsitration. There will be a second rally after the march, with more great speakers!
This event is one that comes in many forms with rallies in almost every major city mixed with signature drives throughout the nation.
