Ki, an all action midfielder and likened in Korea to England star Steven Gerrard, has been linked to Manchester United, Hamburg and Porto but is being patient.

“I still have a lot to learn in the K-league to improve my strengths and erase my weaknesses,” Ki told Korean media. “I want to play in Europe but now is not yet the time.”

The teenager has scored twice in four appearances for the national team, with his debut goal coming in September’s 2010 World Cup qualifier with North Korea.

That goal perhaps saved the job of coach Huh Jung-moo who paid tribute to the youngster. “His creativity, passing skills and vision make him a very good midfielder. He is an all-round player,” Huh told Korean media.
